KOTA TINGGI: The RM1.5 billion Pengerang Eco Industrial Park (PEIP) is the latest billion ringgit investment project to be developed in Pengerang here.
Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Mohamed Khaled Nordin said it would serve as a hub for companies in the oil and gas (O&G) industry that provided support services such as repairs, restoration and maintenance.
He added that there would also be industrial skills training centres.
The project development is being undertaken by local companies Serba Dinamik Holdings Bhd and Perisind Samudra Sdn Bhd on a 25ha site and will be completed in three phases.
“The first phase of the project with a gross development cost of RM1billion will be completed in two years,” said Khaled at the project’s ground breaking today.
He said PEIP would create many job opportunities and boost the skills of O&G industry workers.
“The PEIP project is important for promoting steady economic growth in Pengerang, as well training young graduates to become skilled workers.”
He said they would have better chances to be sent to work abroad or join notable organisations around the globe.
He said it would be a great loss for the state if the PEIP project was stalled or abandoned due to a change in the state government administration.
Present were State Secretary Datuk Azmi Rohani, Perisind Samudra managing director Datuk Mohd Shahfiee Mohd Sanip and Serba Dinamik Holdings managing director Datuk Dr Mohd Abdul Karim Abdullah.
