KOTA TINGGI, Johor: Serba Dinamik Holdings Bhd will develop Malaysia’s first maintenance, repair and overhaul (MRO) as well as inspection, repair and maintenance (IRM) Global Centre of Excellence for the oil and gas industry for RM1.5 billion.
The joint development with Perisind Samudra Sdn Bhd, known as Pengerang Eco Industrial Park (PEIP), will also boast a plant turnaround village as well as a technical and vocational education and training city.
PEIP is the latest multi-billion investment being developed in Pengerang to support companies in the oil and gas industry there.
The development on 25 hectares will be undertaken in three phases, Johor Menteri Besar Datuk Mohamed Khaled Nordin said at the ground breaking ceremony here today.
“The first phase ot the project with a gross development cost ot RM1 billion is slated to be completed in the next two years,” said Khaled.
He added that the facility will become a hub for support services companies such as the development of repairs andrestorations facility, maintenance, and to also include the establishment of industrial skill training centres for the oil and gas sector in the move to increased more skilled talents to fill up the demand for more local workforce.
Serba Dinamik managing director Datuk Dr. Mohd Abdul Karim Abdullah said the project would start with the construction of the plant turnaround village, followed by the MRO and IRM Global Centre of Excellence and TVET City.
Karim said the plant turnaround village will be equipped with modern machinery and facilities, which will be used as diagnostic devices to detect any defects at an early stage to ensure continuous safe operation of equipment and structures and improve operational efficiency.
“The MRO and IRM Global Centre of Excellence will incorporate superior infrastructure and facilities to meet the needs of world-class players in the oil, gas and petrochemical industry,” he added.
Meanwhile, a business daily reported that Serba Dinamik was finalising a discussion for a potential acquisition of a US firm, and expected it to be concluded this year.
“When that acquisition happens, then we would have covered the entire geographic coverage as a multinational company. It should complete within this year,” Karim was quoted as saying.
Serba Dinamik’s order book stands at RM6.2 billion and it is targetting for an order book of RM7.5 billion this year.
